Ziggo Sport is adding a new sport to its portfolio of top sporting events. The sports channel will broadcast the international tournaments of the World Padel Tour for the next three years. The first tournament to be broadcast is the Reus Costa Daurada Open in Spain on the weekend of 11 to 13 March.

This year, the World Padel Tour consists of 24 events spread over four continents. The year culminates in a Master Final in which the best-ranked players compete against each other. This year, the World Padel Tour is coming to the Netherlands as well. The World Padel Tour Amsterdam Open 2022 will take place from 26 September to 2 October.

Padel is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and is gaining momentum in the Netherlands as well. ‘Padel is extremely popular and padel courts are sprouting up all over the place. It is fast, spectacular, has high entertainment value and appeals to a broad target group. It fits perfectly into Ziggo Sport's portfolio and is a wonderful addition to all the rights we already own’, explains Marcel Beerthuizen of Ziggo Sport.
