From July 1st onwards, Ziggo is again increasing Internet speeds for many residential and business customers. Due to hybrid working and education and the increased popularity of streaming services, the Netherlands is using the internet more and more intensively. A stable and fast connection is indispensable for this. Ziggo is increasing the speeds automatically; customers do not have to do anything to achieve this.

For consumers, the download and upload speeds will increase in the Basic, Start, Start XXL and Complete packages. Customers with the Max package will retain their current speeds of 600 Mbit/s download and 40 Mbit/s upload. The Giga package also remains unchanged with 1 Gbit/s download and 50 Mbit/s upload speeds.

Changing needs
Marcel de Groot, director of consumer services at VodafoneZiggo: "Consumers and businesses need more and more internet capacity. Our network is being used more and more intensively, for hybrid work, education, gaming and a rapidly growing number of streaming services. That's why we continuously invest in the reliability of our network and ensure that the internet speed of the various subscriptions continues to meet the needs of our customers."

Modem reset
Throughout the month of July, the new Internet speeds will be made available. Customers will receive a confirmation from Ziggo when the new speed is available. To make use of the new speed, the modem needs to be reset. This can be done simply by unplugging the modem from the wall socket for 1 minute. Once the modem has been restarted, the new download and upload speeds will be available immediately. Modems that customers do not reset themselves, Ziggo will reset remotely at night during the month of July.

Investing in GigaNet
This new speed increase by Ziggo fits in with the trend towards gigabit speeds in the Netherlands. The focus here is on new technologies, higher speeds and better coverage. Meanwhile, over 73% of Ziggo's customers can opt for 1Gbit/s internet speeds, based on the DOCSIS 3.1 standard. This will be 100% before the end of 2022, the telecom company indicated earlier. It also invested in the best Wi-Fi coverage for customers last year. Meanwhile, more than 1.3 million customers have SmartWifi pods. More about Giganet.
