After the US and the
rest of the world, Game of Thrones is becoming ever more popular in our country
too. Last month, the series started its seventh season which can be watched in
the Netherlands through Ziggo Movies & Series L and XL On Demand. In total
twice as many fans watched the first two episodes of the new season, compared
to the first two of the sixth season of Game of Thrones. The first episode of
the seventh season saw viewing figures soar to over 20 percent.

The first episodes of
the new season of the internationally praised hit series came out with great
stuff for its viewers. Dramatic revelations and magnificent reunions filled the
evening of the excited fans. Each Monday at 9 p.m., the day after the broadcast
in the United States, Ziggo Movies & Series L and XL has a new episode available
of the seventh season of Game of Thrones. Subscribers can also watch the six
previous seasons at their leisure on the On Demand channel, which contains the
entire HBO library as well as series from other networks, like the hit series
Billions from Showtime.
High-quality on
demand content
Last month, Ziggo saw
an enormous upswing in viewing trends. Viewers were preparing for the new
season, which resulted in a huge increase in the number of viewers watching the
first six seasons for the first or the umpteenth time. Wiliam Linders, Director
Content and Programming, commented on the strong results: "We are proud
that we are able to bring a series as popular as Game of Thrones to the
Netherlands and to have the episodes available for all our viewers so quickly
after they have been broadcasted in the United States. The exceptionally high
number of viewers watching Game of Thrones and the increasing popularity of our
other series demonstrate that there is a huge market for high-quality on demand
content."
