VodafoneZiggo awarded EcoVadis Platinum Medal for the second time

25 november 2025

For the second year in a row, VodafoneZiggo has received the EcoVadis Platinum Medal. In the latest assessment, the company scored 84 out of 100, an increase compared to last year. This highlights VodafoneZiggo’s ongoing commitment to sustainable business practices.

“This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement,” says Morgane Patris, Senior ESG Manager at VodafoneZiggo. “EcoVadis assesses 150,000 companies worldwide. We are extremely proud to, once again, be among the top 1%.”

EcoVadis
EcoVadis assesses companies all over the world on their sustainability performance. This produces a score from 0 to 100 in terms of the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Morgane: “Every year, our company is rated on these themes. EcoVadis looks at policies, objectives, public commitments, certifications, and the extent to which measures have been implemented within VodafoneZiggo. The more widely these measures are put into practice, the higher our score.” These findings are enhanced with an AI-driven analysis of external sources, like news items and NGO reports. “You're always on your toes. What happens outside directly affects your score,” Morgane adds.

An upward trend
“Our sustainability journey shows ongoing progress. In 2023, we achieved silver, followed by our first Platinum Medal in 2024 (with 82 points). This year, we took it a step further with a score of 84 out of 100. This increase is mainly due to our new Labor & Human Rights policy and our public commitment to international standards, such as the UN Global Compact. This demonstrates that we set clear targets and endorse them publicly,” says Morgane. “Additionally, we now ask our suppliers to go through an EcoVadis assessment, enabling us to create more impact not only internally, but across the entire chain.”

Stay sharp
Morgane: “This medal is not only valuable as evidence for partners and customers. It also makes us very proud. At the same time, it helps us stay sharp. EcoVadis makes clear what we are doing well and where opportunities exist for future growth. This helps us strengthen our approach, for example in policies, reporting and additional certifications.” She continues, “Every year the bar is raised, as every company continues to develop. Simply maintaining your current level is not enough.”

Our efforts per theme
The EcoVadis assessment is based on four sustainability themes. What have we done this year, and how do we continue to work on these themes?

  • Labour and Human Rights: We have developed a new policy with clear objectives and increased transparency. We have launched more accessible products, such as AI-assisted subtitles for UEFA matches, and provide digital support in our shops. In addition, we are developing training programmes and using objective tests and questionnaires in our recruitment process to strengthen psychological safety, inclusion, and fair opportunities.
  • Ethics: Joining the UN Global Compact helps us scrutinize our practices for responsible and honest business. We focus on transparency and fairness in policy and communication — for example, by rewriting our collective labor agreement in B1-level language.
  • Environment: For the first time, we submitted our net zero targets to SBTi, clearly committing to climate action and CO2 reduction. Energy efficiency initiatives are gaining importance as we replace older mediaboxes with more energy-efficient models and continue to monitor our network’s energy consumption closely. Our Circular Electronics Policy encourages both recycling and refurbishment of electronics. We are also working to reduce gas use in our offices and are aiming for an increasingly electric vehicle fleet. Currently, 80% of our vehicles are electric.
  • Sustainable Procurement: By improving ESG reporting, tightening procurement criteria, launching a new supplier programme for active cooperation, and giving circularity more attention, we continue to take steps towards a more sustainable supply chain.

More than a certificate
The EcoVadis Platinum Medal is more than a certificate. It emphasises VodafoneZiggo's continuous focus on corporate responsibility and sustainable business practices. Morgane: “The medal is not the finish line. It's a huge motivation to raise our ambitions together with colleagues, suppliers, and partners. Each year, we continue to improve our policy and processes to make a difference — both inside and outside the organisation.” With this international recognition, VodafoneZiggo shows that commitment to sustainability is not only an ambition. It also produces tangible results.
