Ziggo Sport renews broadcasting rights for English Premier League

6 december 2018

Ziggo Sport has once again secured the exclusive broadcasting rights of the English Premier League for the coming three seasons. The renewed rights apply to the exclusive broadcasting of live matches as well as highlights, both on television and internet. The matches can be viewed on Ziggo Sport, the free sports channel for all digital Ziggo subscribers, and on Ziggo Sport Totaal, the pay TV package which can be obtained from any provider in the Netherlands.

Last month, Ziggo Sport already announced that the channel will continue to broadcast Formula 1 up to and including the year 2021. In addition to that, the channel has also managed to add more field hockey to its package. The 2022 world championships field hockey, for example, for both men and women, can be watched live. Ziggo Sport also renewed its agreement with the American PGA Golf Tour.

Will Moerer, director at Ziggo Sport: “The best European soccer competitions have been and will continue to be broadcasted by Ziggo Sport and Ziggo Sport Totaal. In the coming few years, our customers can continue to enjoy, next to Premier League soccer, competitions like the UEFA Champions League, the Spanish La Liga and the Italian Serie A. In these last few months, we have managed to secure our key broadcasting rights, Formula 1 and the Premier League, and also succeeded to further expand our broadcasting package. Ziggo Sport is an essential channel for sports fans.”

Premier League Director of Broadcasting Paul Molnar said: “Premier League clubs are very popular in the Netherlands and Ziggo does an excellent job making the competition available to fans across the country. We are very pleased they will continue as our exclusive partner for the next three seasons.”
