Young VodafoneZiggo offers a blend of professional and personal training courses, opportunities to meet interesting people and. plenty of fun. "Our goal is to make young people feel good here," says Valérie van den Hout, the president. "We encourage them to expand their networks beyond their immediate teams or departments. At Young VodafoneZiggo, they connect with colleagues across the organisation, fostering more contacts and shortening communication lines within the company. This broadens their horizons and opens up new opportunities."
Events galore
Recent Young VodafoneZiggo events have included a jam-packed Development Day focusing on AI, a Beach Cleanup in Scheveningen, a classical concert at The Concertgebouw, a workshop on the Ajax sponsorship at the Johan Cruyff Arena, and a tour of the Ziggo Sport studio in Hilversum, showcasing the variety and appeal of the activities they offer.
Scoring together
“The highlight of this year so far was the football tournament at AFC in Amsterdam-Zuid," beams Liecke Leushuis, a board member. "We invited companies like Bol.com and PostNL to vie for the title, with some fielding three or four teams. With lots of spectators along the touchline, it was really great fun. And there’s still the YoungX Development Day to look forward to, which I believe will be equally successful."
Joining forces
"One of my favourite events so far was the Duck Rally," says Valérie. "It was a rally through and around Utrecht in charming Citroën 2CV cars. Participants started off as strangers and finished as friends, which is always rewarding to witness. Such events foster camaraderie and encourage colleagues to seek each other out, even outside work."
Networking and inspiring
"Then there are the networking drinks," Liecke continued. "We organise one every month, somewhere in Utrecht, as well as an end-of-year party at Christmas time. There’s also the eagerly anticipated annual ski trip with other companies." The Young VodafoneZiggo College Tour features with speakers like RTL CEO Sven Sauvé, VNO-NCW chair Ingrid Thijssen and senior VodafoneZiggo executives. "These offer members valuable insights into achieving success and leadership development."
Bigger and bigger, better and better
"Young VodafoneZiggo continues to grow," says Valérie. "We now boast over 400 members. This growth means larger events and venues, enhancing the quality and reach of our activities. Both Liecke, a Business Controller at Finance B2B, and Valérie, an E-commerce Manager B2B, contribute to Young VodafoneZiggo alongside their primary roles. "Our employer is incredibly supportive," says Valérie. "It feels good to give something back andand to think of what might excite our young colleagues."
Young at heart
Becoming a member of Young VodafoneZiggo is easy: simply register on SharePoint, VodafoneZiggo's intranet. Liecke: "It only costs 20 euros a year and you'll soon see the value." Ageis no barrier;the only requirementis to be young at heart." Member feedback is always positive, Valérie adds. ''This makes it even more fun to work at VodafoneZiggo’’. And we think so too!"
