Meet the board

Stephen van Rooyen is CEO of VodafoneZiggo since 1 September 2024. In his most recent role, as Sky’s Chief Executive Officer UK and Ireland and Chief Commercial Officer Sky Group, Stephen led the UK & Irish business as well as aligned and collaborated on commercial activities across all of Sky’s markets. He joined Sky in 2006 where he held various senior management roles, including Chief Marketing, Sales and Digital Officer in 2014, before becoming CEO in 2020. He also had oversight of the markets in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy for 3 years. Prior to that, he held digital roles at News UK, Accenture in London and Australia - as well as 2 years at Virgin Media, working in both Group Strategy and Product Strategy.

Ritchy Drost (1974) has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at VodafoneZiggo since the start on 1 January 2017. From 1 May 2024 - 1 September 2024, he also assumed the responsibilities of interim CEO. Prior to that, he had been Chief Financial Officer and member of the board at Ziggo since 2015. Ritchy joined Liberty Global in 1999 and fulfilled several positions, including being CFO of a former European division of Liberty and being CFO of UPC Netherlands. After his study in business economics, Ritchy worked as an auditor for accounting firm Arthur Andersen for a few years.

John van Vianen (1969) has been Executive Director Business market since the start of VodafoneZiggo on 1 January 2017. John has over twenty years of experience in technology, media and telecommunications. He had fulfilled several managerial positions before he was appointed CEO of iBasis in 2009 in the United States. In 2011, John became CEO of KPN Business Market and member of the Executive Committee of KPN. He was in charge of the integration of IT Solutions (formerly Getronics). He studied business economics, specialized in marketing at the University of Tilburg and has a master's degree in Business Telecommunications from the Delft University of Technology. In 2014, he finished the New Board Program at Nyenrode University.

Karlijn van Aalten (1978) is Executive Director HR for VodafoneZiggo as of April 1, 2025. She started at Vodafone in 2012 as a Legal Counsel before transitioning into HR in 2014. She played a key role in the integration of Vodafone and Ziggo as Senior HR Business Partner. After a period at Liberty Global, she returned to VodafoneZiggo in 2022 as Director Reward & People Experience, responsible for employment conditions, health & wellbeing, HR operations and HR technology. Under her leadership, VodafoneZiggo successfully closed two collective labor agreements and implemented a company-wide wellbeing strategy. Karlijn is passionate about creating an engaging employee experience and driving a future-proof HR strategy.

Before joining VodafoneZiggo, Karlijn held various legal roles, including Legal Counsel Employment Matters at ABN AMRO Bank and attorney-at-law. She studied law at the University of Groningen.

Robin Kroes (1975) is Executive Director Consumer market since 1 September 2022. He has been Executive Director Strategy, Insights & Integration since the start of VodafoneZiggo on 1 January 2017. Robin was also responsible for the digital transformation within the company. Prior to that, he was VP Strategy & Integration during the merger of UPC and Ziggo in 2014. He was, among other things, responsible for market strategy, mergers & acquisitions and market intelligence, as well as overseeing the integration of UPC and Ziggo. Before that, Robin was appointed VP Strategy & Corporate Development and member of the Management Team at UPC Netherlands in March 2012, in which role he was also responsible for Content and Product Management, next to Strategy. Before UPC, Robin held several positions at Chellomedia, including VP Commercial, Operations and Corporate Development. Robin studied economics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Annelore Buijs (1973) was appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) at VodafoneZiggo as of June 2026. She has over 25 years’ experience in various leadership roles, including at KPN, Medipoint and Ingenico Group. In her most recent role as Executive VP Europe at Cegeka, she was responsible for European growth and the integration of the services portfolio. A central theme throughout her career has been strengthening customer-focused organisations by connecting customer strategy, operations and digital transformation. Buijs is known for simplifying complex organisations, building results-driven teams and maintaining a strong focus on the customer.

Thomas Helbo (1972) is appointment as Executive Director of Technology since 8 January 2024. He brings a wealth of experience from the telecom sector having successfully led major change journeys. His career includes executive roles such as CTO at Stofa, Group CTO at Tele2 and COO at JT Global. Thomas last served as the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at TDC in Denmark. He holds degrees in both Computer Science and International Marketing and was previously the chairman of the Danish Electronics Industry Association.

Anne Hustinx (1978) has been serving as the Executive Director of External & Legal Affairs at VodafoneZiggo since January 1, 2024. Prior to this role, Anne held the positions of General Counsel and Chief Procurement Officer at Schiphol Group. She was responsible for legal, compliance, ethics & privacy, and the corporate secretariat, as well as overseeing procurement and contract management within Schiphol. Anne has extensive experience at the intersection of legal, strategy, and public affairs, dealing with various regulatory bodies, a broad stakeholder field, and multiple ministries.

Before joining Schiphol, Anne worked at TNT Express (FedEx) and spent 10 years in the legal profession at DLA Piper and CMS. Anne studied law at the University of Groningen.

Since May 2025, Bo Budé has been Executive Director Strategy & Partnerships at VodafoneZiggo. In this role, she is responsible for shaping the company’s strategic direction and strengthening collaboration with key external partners. Bo joined VodafoneZiggo in 2021 as Director Strategy. Prior to that, she worked at Bain & Company, gaining extensive experience in strategy development and consultancy. She started her career as an engineer at Stork Technical Services. Bo played a pivotal role in securing the 3.5GHz spectrum and enhancing cooperation with shareholders Liberty Global and Vodafone.

Pieter de Klein (1972) has been VodafoneZiggo’s Executive Director Transformation since September 2025. Pieter has over 30 years of experience in the telecom sector. He has held several strategic and commercial positions at KPN, T-Mobile Germany, T-Mobile UK (now EE), Ben and T-Mobile Netherlands. During T-Mobile's transformation to Odido, Pieter was Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Technology in Eindhoven.

Additional position: Mentor for start-ups at YES, University of Technology in Delft

Jon Lugg has been Chief Information Officer of VodafoneZiggo since March 2026. He brings extensive technology leadership experience from Vodafone, where he was Head of IT Operations Engineering in Europe and managed several global programmes. Previously, he held various management positions at Cable & Wireless Worldwide. Jon has a degree in financial economics from the University of Leicester.
