After a year-and-a-half wait, the time has come. The countdown to the last season of the international hit series Game of Thrones has begun. Game of Thrones is an American television series by HBO which premiered in 2011. The series is based on the book series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ by the American author George R.R. Martin. The series has multiple story lines and is mainly situated in the Seven Kingdoms on the western mythical continent of Westeros, where highborn families fight to assume power in the realm. The Seven Kingdoms are protected in the far north by the great Wall of Ice. The Wall is manned by the Night’s Watch, protecting the realm against the dangers that lie beyond the wall. The other part is enacted on the eastern continent of Essos, where mother or dragons Daenerys Targaryen tries to find her way to reclaim the throne in Westeros. House Targaryen ruled the Seven Kingdoms for nearly 300 years, until Aerys II Targaryen “The Madman” was dethroned and killed by a pact between House Baratheon, House Stark, House Arryn, House Tully and House Lannister. Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) became the new king. After the death of Aerys II Targaryen his youngest children, Viserys (Harry Lloyd) and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), flee to Essos on the eastern continent.
