From a gladiator battle to a frozen screen: capturing the frustration of buffering

Ziggo has launched a new advertising campaign centered around its WiFi Guarantee. The campaign addresses a frustration many people can relate to: unreliable WiFi. Ziggo’s WiFi Guarantee provides the solution, ensuring customers in the Netherlands a stable and reliable connection for the first time, even beyond the front door. The campaign kicks off today with a TV commercial, online video, radio, social media, and digital-out-of-home platforms.

The campaign kicks off with a TV commercial that opens with an intense action scene between two gladiators in a Roman arena. At a critical moment, the scene freezes as the video starts buffering. It soon becomes clear that the buffering is happening in the home of the main character, who is watching the film. This creates a highly relatable moment of frustration. The solution is quick: as soon as the lead character switches to Ziggo’s WiFi Guarantee, the movie resumes smoothly and continues without interruptions.

With the WiFi Guarantee, Ziggo is setting a new standard for home WiFi, delivering reliable connectivity day and night, in every room. Customers receive complimentary WiFi extenders tailored to their internet usage and the size of their home. In case of WiFi issues, Ziggo’s customer service provides 24/7 personalized support. If needed, a technician will visit free of charge to optimize the connection. This ensures that both residential and small business customers can stream, game, video call and work worry-free, anywhere in their home or office, without interruptions.

The campaign will be visible across TV, online video (OLV), social media, radio, and digital-out-of-home channels, including the LED screens at Ziggo Dome and Hoog Catharijne. Additional branded content and PR will further amplify the campaign's reach.

A new strategy
With the introduction of the WiFi Guarantee, a first in the Netherlands, customers are assured of fast and stable WiFi in every corner of their home. In addition, VodafoneZiggo simplified its internet offerings and adjusted pricing in March. These steps are part of the company’s new strategic plan, which outlines a clear path for the future. This plan focuses on key priorities, including the repositioning of its internet portfolio, accelerating its network strategy, and making targeted investments in core business activities.
