VodafoneZiggo Accelerates Commercial Turnaround with New Brand Strategy and Product Launches

Customer Retention Improves for the Fourth Consecutive Quarter

1 mei 2026

VodafoneZiggo opens the year strongly and achieves key strategic milestones in the first quarter of 2026. For the fourth consecutive quarter, the company reports an improvement in customer retention. This further stabilization in the number of internet customers in the consumer market is accompanied by a record performance from the hollandsnieuwe brand, which also leads to strong growth in the mobile segment. Revenue performance has also improved. With these figures, the telecom company is on track to deliver a commercial turnaround this year.

Ritchy Drost, CFO of VodafoneZiggo: “Once again, this quarter demonstrates the progress we are making. With the repositioning of Ziggo as ‘the everything network’, the introduction of our Kids & Teens subscriptions at Vodafone, and renewed bundles at hollandsnieuwe, we have taken significant steps this quarter in investing in our brands and customer experience. This is reflected in the growing number of customers choosing us. For the fourth quarter in a row, we see improvement in internet customer retention, and the number of mobile customers continues to grow strongly. This is proof that our strategy is working. It takes time and we are not there yet, but we are convinced that we can maintain this pace and that we can achieve a turnaround this year.”

Commercial Results
For the fourth consecutive quarter, internet customer retention has improved compared to previous quarters. Customer loss in this first quarter was limited to 8,500 customers: a significant decrease compared to the first quarter of 2025, when customer loss was still at 30,000. This is partly due to higher sales figures and fewer cancellations in the consumer segment. The number of mobile postpaid subscriptions grew by nearly 25,000 customers in the first quarter of this year, thanks in part to strong growth at the hollandsnieuwe brand.

Financial Results
VodafoneZiggo’s revenue in the first quarter was €981 million: a marginal decrease of 1.8% compared to the first quarter of last year, demonstrating clear improvement. Operational profit (EBITDA) amounted to €412 million, a decrease of 6.4% compared to the first quarter of 2025. This decline is in line with expectations and is mainly due to extra investments in network improvements and digital resilience. Without these investments, EBITDA would have decreased by 4.4%. VodafoneZiggo remains on course to achieve its financial objectives for this year.

Future Plans
With the Ziggo Group and the planned spin-off on the horizon, the well-known brands Ziggo, Vodafone, and hollandsnieuwe will continue to exist. VodafoneZiggo is taking the next step in its ambition to hold a leading position in the Dutch telecommunications market.
