VodafoneZiggo has achieved the Platinum Medal from EcoVadis, an international authority in sustainability assessments. This places the telecom provider in the top 1% of the best-performing companies worldwide in the field of corporate social responsibility. The result highlights VodafoneZiggo's ongoing commitment to a fair and sustainable supply chain, with a focus on labour and human rights, the environment, and sustainable procurement.
In the most recent assessment, VodafoneZiggo achieved a score of 82 out of 100, an increase of 10 points compared to the 2023 evaluation. EcoVadis evaluates companies on themes such as Labor & Human Rights, Environment, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.
Significant Progress
VodafoneZiggo has made significant strides in the field of corporate social responsibility in recent years. In 2021, the company was awarded a Silver Medal, and now, three years later, it has achieved a Platinum Medal.
VodafoneZiggo's three goals in the area of corporate social responsibility are:
- Halving environmental impact by 2025 (climate neutral by 2050);
- Ensuring no one is left behind in a rapidly changing (digital) society;
- Promoting diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplaces.
Sustainable Procurement
In achieving CSR objectives, suppliers play an important role. VodafoneZiggo makes agreements with them on how to achieve these objectives in a responsible and sustainable manner. VodafoneZiggo examines the entire supply chain with each supplier, from safe working conditions to reducing environmental impact. The minimum requirements that suppliers must meet are outlined in the sustainable and ethical procurement code of VodafoneZiggo. Sustainable and Ethical Procurement Code.
In addition to these agreements, suppliers are also encouraged to achieve at least a Bronze Medal from EcoVadis. In 2023, VodafoneZiggo assessed 299 of its key suppliers on their EcoVadis rating. The goal for 2024 is to increase the number of assessed suppliers to 325. By 2025, this number should further grow to 350.
Social Commitment
The ambition to “leave no one behind” (as stated in the company's strategy) has, among other things, led to the introduction of Digital Walk-in hours in VodafoneZiggo stores earlier this year. During these sessions,(non)customers can ask questions and receive assistance from the telecom company's store employees.
Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion
VodafoneZiggo employees are also involved in the ambition to leave no one behind. Each year, a survey is conducted among employees, with a focus on diversity and inclusion. The results provide insight into what is needed to create a safe working environment. Additionally, several employee groups are actively advising on issues such as equal treatment of women and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
In May 2024, Thomas Mulder (HR Director) signed the Equal Opportunities Declaration on behalf of VodafoneZiggo, an initiative led by Minister Van Gennip of Social Affairs and Employment, aiming for a more inclusive labor market.
All of these efforts have culminated in the achievement of the EcoVadis Platinum Medal.
