Ziggo Sport acquires broadcasting rights to French Ligue 1, and extends various contracts

From the 2021-2022 season onwards, Ziggo Sport will be paying extensive attention to the top French football competition; the Ligue 1. The channel managed to acquire the broadcasting rights for the coming seasons, so it will be possible to follow stars such as Mbappé and Neymar, as well as the Dutch players Wijnaldum, Stengs and Kluivert, via Ziggo Sport. In addition, the head coach of Olympique Lyon this season is Peter Bosz. Ziggo Sport had already extended the contract with the Italian Serie A. In addition to the French and Italian football leagues, the channel also has broadcasting rights to the English Premier League and the Spanish La Liga. It also goes without saying that Ziggo Sport and Ziggo Sport Totaal will be showing the UEFA Champions League and the international qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar,along with games from the FA Cup, Copa del Rey and Coppa Italia.

IndyCar series, Formula E and Six Nations Rugby
Ziggo Sport also extended the broadcasting rights for the IndyCar series, Formula E and Six Nations Rugby by a number of years. The sports channel will reserve more time in its programming for the IndyCar series. This class of car racing, in which the Dutchman Rinus van Kalmthout won his first race this year, is gaining in popularity. Besides the IndyCar series and Formula E, featuring the Dutchmen Robin Frijns and Nyck de Vries, Ziggo Sport will also continue to broadcast the W-Series, DTM, Supercars, Porsche Carrera Cup, Ferrari Challenge, and WRC.

The Six Nations is the most important rugby tournament in the world, and will be broadcast again by Ziggo Sport in February 2022.The Six Nations for women will also be included in the programming schedule.

New on Ziggo Sport: the BNXT League
The new basketball competition between Dutch and Belgian clubs, the BNXT League, will be shown on Ziggo Sport from February 2022. This will involve more than 30 games during the basketball season. As soon as the national basketball competitions in the Netherlands and Belgium end, Ziggo Sport will broadcast a live game between a team from the Netherlands and Belgium each Friday evening. The national playoffs and the playoffs between the best Belgian and Dutch teams will of course also be broadcast live on Ziggo Sport and Ziggo Sport Totaal.
