Ziggo Sport acquires the broadcasting rights to the Turkish football league Süper Lig

17 augustus 2022

Ziggo Sport will be devoting attention to the Turkish Süper Lig over the next two football seasons. The sports channel acquired the rights to broadcast live matches and the highlights of all matches on TV and online.

Ziggo Sport is the first provider in the Netherlands to offer the most important Turkish football competition. For the next two seasons, one or two matches per match round can be seen live by Ziggo customers and subscribers of Ziggo Sport Totaal, including regular matches of Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Besiktas. The highlights of all other matches will also be broadcast. Turkish stars like Yunus Akgün and Halil Dervişoğlu and Dutch players like Wout Weghorst and Patrick van Aanholt can thus be followed live on a weekly basis via Ziggo Sport.

Marcel Beerthuizen, Director of Ziggo Sport: ‘Football is the most popular sport in Turkey, as it is in the Netherlands. We are delighted that the Turkish football league can now be seen live on Dutch television. It is a great addition to our already extensive range of national and international sports competitions.’

Comprehensive football offer
Earlier this year, Ziggo Sport extended its contract with the Spanish LaLiga. The French Ligue 1 and Italian Serie A are also broadcast live on the sports channel. Naturally, the UEFA Champions League, just like the qualification matches for the 2024 European Championship and the 2026 World Cup, will continue to be broadcast via Ziggo Sport and Ziggo Sport Totaal. The same applies to the UEFA Nations League and the FA Cup in England. In the talk show Rondo, Wytse van der Goot discusses the highlights from all football competitions with, among others, Marco van Basten and Ruud Gullit every Monday evening at 20:30 hrs.
