19 februari 2025

  • VodafoneZiggo closes 2024 in line with expectations
  • VodafoneZiggo further strengthens position in entertainment through exclusive UEFA media rights
  • VodafoneZiggo reinvests 21% of revenue into improvements in network and services

VodafoneZiggo has achieved its financial targets for 2024. The operating result (Adjusted EBITDA) for 2024 rose by 3.1 per cent to €1,880.1 million, partly due to continued revenue growth in the mobile and business segments. The total revenue remained stable compared to the previous year. Sports channel Ziggo Sport, including its unique UEFA football offering, made a positive contribution to the revenue and remains a key differentiator for the telecoms company.

Ritchy Drost, CFO of VodafoneZiggo, on the results: "The year 2024 went according to plan. Despite the challenging market, there were no unexpected turns. Our revenue remained stable and the EBITDA grew. In the last quarter, we successfully issued a second green bond, which further strengthened our financial position for the future. I am happy with that. Among other things, this will allow us to invest again in strategic initiatives focusing on the customer experience in 2025, in addition to our exclusive UEFA content. This will allow us to further strengthen our market position and increase customer satisfaction."

Consumer market
The total number of internet customers decreased by 30,200 in the fourth quarter. While the number of internet customers in the business market increased by 5,800, the number of internet customers in the consumer market fell by 36,000. This was due to a highly competitive market and numerous deep price and product promotions.

By contrast, the number of new mobile customers (post-paid) increased by 2,100 in the last quarter. This brought the total number of new mobile contracts for 2024 to 26,700. Partly as a result of this, consumer mobile revenue increased by 3.2% for the entire year. The last quarter saw a slight decline in mobile revenue in this segment, mainly due to a decline in handset sales.

Business market
VodafoneZiggo has shown growth in the business market for the sixth consecutive year. In the last quarter, turnover increased by 0.5%. This brought the total to an increase of 1.1% in 2024, especially in the small business segment.

In the last quarter of 2024, VodafoneZiggo added 5,800 internet connections in the business market. This brought the total number of new business internet connections to 18,800 in 2024.

Mobile revenue in the business market remained stable in the fourth quarter and declined slightly by 0.9% for the whole 2024.

Ziggo Sport
VodafoneZiggo looks back on the past few months with satisfaction, in which the company saw a significant increase in the number of viewers and new customers opting for Ziggo Sport's UEFA club football.

Ritchy Drost on Ziggo Sport's UEFA broadcasts: "We are very happy with the results achieved so far. We have over 1.5 million viewers for top matches and are seeing a strong increase in the number of subscribers for Ziggo Sport Totaal. We are also seeing a great deal of appreciation from viewers for the broadcasts, presenters and analysts. These achievements confirm the value of our UEFA offering and the strength of VodafoneZiggo’s offering of entertainment content."

Customer-oriented
Continuous innovation and digital transformation are important to VodafoneZiggo. In 2024, the company invested about 21% of its turnover (€850 million) into further developing its networks, products and services. Partly by acquiring 5G spectrum in 2024, VodafoneZiggo is increasing its capacity for customers and enabling the deployment of new technologies, such as extended reality (XR) and innovations within the logistics and medical sectors.

In 2025, the company will invest further into launching several new commercial propositions, in order to be even more responsive to changing customer needs. Finally, this year VodafoneZiggo remains committed to fast, reliable and secure connections through its fixed and mobile networks.
