Ziggo launches internet speeds of up to 8 Gigabits per second

Major network upgrade brings multi-gigabit speeds to millions of Dutch homes, using Ziggo’s existing infrastructure and without digging up streets

12 oktober 2026

Ziggo today launches new internet packages with speeds of up to 8 gigabits per second, starting in Amsterdam and Utrecht. The launch is the first major customer benefit from Ziggo’s recent network upgrade and demonstrates the potential of an infrastructure that already reaches millions of households and businesses across the Netherlands.

From today, consumers and businesses across Utrecht and large parts of Amsterdam can order Ziggo internet packages with speeds of up to 8 Gbit/s. Ziggo will also immediately offer the new packages at addresses where its services are available via the DELTA Fiber network. Within two months, around 3 million addresses in the Netherlands will be ready for internet speeds of up to 4 Gbit/s, including 1.5 million addresses capable of receiving speeds of up to 8 Gbit/s. In total, Ziggo reaches more than 8 million households across the country.

Following Amsterdam and Utrecht, Ziggo will continue expanding the availability of 4 and 8 Gbit/s region by region across the Netherlands. Customers will be informed as the new speeds become available in their area.

More speed and capacity, without digging up streets

The introduction of 4 and 8 Gbit/s follows a major upgrade of the Ziggo network. VodafoneZiggo has prepared its network for DOCSIS 4.0, the latest generation of broadband technology, which significantly increases the capacity and performance possible over Ziggo’s existing infrastructure. VodafoneZiggo is the first telecom provider in Europe to implement this technology at such scale.

The upgrade was completed in just eighteen months. Because Ziggo has been able to upgrade its existing infrastructure, it has done so without large-scale street works and without disrupting customers’ internet services.

“The best network is a network customers don’t have to think about,” says Robin Kroes, Director Consumer Market at VodafoneZiggo. “Customers don’t care about the technology behind their connection. They care that it works brilliantly and keeps pace with their lives. We have upgraded a network that already reaches millions of Dutch homes, without digging up streets and without disrupting our customers. 8 Gbit/s is an important milestone, but more importantly it demonstrates the enormous potential within the Ziggo network.”

Ready for what comes next

Data usage by households and businesses continues to grow as more devices, services and applications become connected. Higher speeds and increased network capacity give customers greater headroom for simultaneous use and make it possible to send and receive very large amounts of data in seconds. The introduction of 4 and 8 Gbit/s is therefore about more than headline speed. It is part of Ziggo’s continued investment in a network designed to support the Netherlands’ growing digital needs for years to come.

The new 4 and 8 Gbit/s packages complement Ziggo’s existing internet portfolio and will become available to more customers as the rollout continues across the country.
