As of today, Ziggo is increasing internet speeds for more than 3.3 million customers The Netherlands is making increasing, and more intensive, use of internet due to video conferences, homeschooling and online sports lessons. A fast internet connection is essential for this. Ziggo is increasing the speeds automatically; the customer won’t have to do anything.

Marcel de Groot, Executive Director Consumer Market, VodafoneZiggo: ‘The increase in the internet speeds applies to more than 3.3 million consumers and companies. The network is being used more and more intensively. That is why we’re not sitting still, we’re continuing to improve our network and we’re ensuring that our customers’ internet speed keeps up with the times.’

New speeds for homeworkers
In the case of consumers, the speeds in almost all packages will increase, and up to 600 Mbit/s download speed in the Max package. Being online simultaneously for video conferences with the whole family , homeschooling or online sports lessons will be a fair bit easier with the new internet speed. The only exception is the Giga package. Ziggo will still offer these customers the maximum speeds of 1 Gbit/s download speed and 50 Mbit/s upload speed.

Companies
In the case of business customers, the internet speeds in all packages will increase, and up to 700 Mbit/s download speed in the Max package. The only exception is the Giga package. Ziggo will still offer these customers the maximum speeds of 1 Gbit/s download speed and 50 Mbit/s upload speed. With these new speeds, Ziggo will ensure that companies with all their employees can work online simultaneously, download and upload presentations and conduct videoconferencing in the way that they wish.

Reset modems
Customers can immediately start enjoying the higher speeds from 12:00 by resetting their modem themselves. To do this, the customer must pull out the modem’s plug from the socket for 1 minute. After restarting, the new speeds will be available immediately. Ziggo will remotely reset modems that have not been reset by the customers themselves no later than 31 May. In this way, customers don’t have to do anything to benefit from higher speeds.

GigaNet
The speed increase is in line with the trend towards gigabit speeds in the Netherlands. Currently, over 3 million Dutch households and companies, which are connected to the Ziggo network, already have access to internet speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second on our powerful GigaNet. By the end of 2021, this will be approximately 6 million and in the course of 2022, all 7.3 million households and companies in our coverage area. Read more about our GigaNet here.
